What Is CoreFoam Masonry Insulation?
While Jensen Insulation specializes in the installation of blown-in and batt
insulation, we know that the South Florida home is not always designed for this
type of application. That is why we offer the CoreFoam Masonry Insulation
system. This self-expanding polyurethane foam is pressure-injected into masonry
wall cavities, insulating the structure for optimal thermal and acoustical
performance.class="pgSCR">
Typical Material Performance
A. ASTM E-84 Surface Burning Characteristics:
- Flame Spread: 25 or Less
- Smoke Generated: Less than 450
- Thickness: 3.5 inches (maximum thickness allowed by test apparatus)
- Tests performed by an independent, certified laboratory located within the United
States of America.
- Flammability Classification: Class A or Class I
B. Thermal Conductivity of Foam Insulation:
- k-value 0.20-0.25 BTU/(hr ft² ˚F in); 0.22, on average
- R-Value 4.0-5.0 (hr ft² ˚F in)/BTU; 4.6 per inch, on average

Installation Method
CoreFoam is applied to all open cells and voids within in each wall, as depicted
in the drawings. Picture 1 shows pre-drilled holes for CoreFoam application.
Picture 2 shows CoreFoam being pressure-injected into wall cavities. Picture
3 shows each wall section filled and CoreFoam setting. After setting, excess
foam is removed from wall cavity and holes are filled with morter, shown in Picture
4. Picture 5 depicts a finished installation.
Following the installation, product should be protected from moisture during the
initial 24 hour curing period. A 72 hour curing period is normally required prior
to painting, however in each case the coatings contractor should test the walls
to confirm the surface is suitable for painting.
